Create a Personalized Teacher Sign with Craft Cuts

SUPPLIES:

  • Baltic Birch Wood Letters (Text: WELCOME TO CLASSROOM, Font: Lemon, Finish: Unpainted, Height: 1 inch, Thickness: 1/4 inch)

  • Banner Craft Shape (Material: Baltic Birch Plywood, Longest Dimension: 12 inch, Shape Thickness: 1⁄4 inch)

  • Script Wood Letters (Text: Teacher’s Name, Font: Apricots, Finish: Unpainted, Height: 2 inch, Thickness: 1⁄4 inch)

  • Wooden Ruler

  • Acrylic Paint 

  • Foam Paint Brush

  • Painter’s Tape

  • Thick Twine

  • Scissors

  • Multi-Purpose Glue (or Super Glue)

Step 1: Add a coat of white paint to the pennant shape.  Let it dry and add a second coat.

Step 2: Rip 2 pieces of 10” painter’s tape and fold in half.

Step 3: Place the individual letters on the tape.

Step 4: Paint W,T,C,O with light tan paint and let dry.

Step 5: Paint E,O,L,M with pink paint and let dry.

Step 6: Paint L and A with mustard yellow paint and let dry.

Step 7: Paint C and S with sage green paint and let dry.

Step 8: Paint O and S with light blue paint and let dry

Step 9: Paint M and R with blue paint and let dry.

Step 10: Paint E and O with light paint pink and let dry.

Step 11: Paint teacher’s name with blue paint.

Step 12: Adhere painter’s tape to the sign and use the paper template to trace the individual letters.

Step 13: Add glue to the back of each letter and place on top of the dots you made.

Step 14: Glue the teacher’s name under.

Step 15: Then, use the other template to add the remaining individual letters.

Step 16: Cut the ruler down to the length of the sign.

Step 17: Add glue above the holes in the sign.

Step 18. Place the ruler on top of the holes in the sign (the top will hang over the edge a bit).

Step 19: Cut a piece of twine 14”. Tie a knot at the end of the twine and pull it through. Repeat  on the other side.
